Education and Outreach Brief Presentation

- Accomplishments
- Fort Bragg public meeting held March 15, 2006, with attendance of 5 locals;
- Tabled at Environmental Dinner March 20, 2006;
- Met with Renee and Lorraine about intern opportunities for High School students and
newspaper article series;
- MCWMA website updated to include an Get Involved page, with subheadings for
- Survey Roadside Weeds, including weed ID photos and links
- Develop and Implement an Integrated Weed Management Plan for Your Own Property, including an overview of IPM
- Contribute to Weed Management on Public Lands, including Adopt-A-Highway & Road forms
- prepared display for AV wildflower show: Roadside Survey
- administrative support to Guil Dye on gorse Caspar committee
- Education and Outreach Workgroup meeting held April 6,
2006 ;
- Proposed sites evaluated for educational value. Highway 1 & 20 site preferred for
visibility, accessibility and generality of issues faced. The site has potential
to demonstrated different approaches to weed debris disposal.
- Next Education and Outreach Workgroup meeting to be determined.
- Plans
- Website updates: reorganize and provide more resources- links, scan more forms, such as State Parks volunteer form and Mendocino Adopt-A-Road Brochure
- Letters of Invitation to join MCWMA will be mailed to stakeholders
in the Caspar, Mendocino and Gualala regions.
The Memorandum of Agreement and contact information for the local Point-of-Contact
will be included in the mailing.
- All MCWMA meetings will be announced in the coastal
newspapers, on radio and on the website.
- Flyers will be posted on community bulletin boards for public
meetings only.
- An MCWMA table will be out at the Anderson Valley Wildflower Show, April 29, 30, 2006.
- Needs (if you can assist with any of these items, please contact

- Volunteer needed for MCCET video training.
- Photos and locations of local examples of the species on the
roadside survey form.
- Names of stakeholders for mailing list of letter of
invitation to join MCWMA.
- Additional content for website, especially news.
- Editing of Spanish-language version of website.
- Newsletter content.
