Projects Workgroup Brief Presentation

- Action Item (Approval): the MCWMA should select the demonstration site for the NFWF project by the following procedure:
- Draft checklist for evaluating demonstration sites is distributed to Partners by March 15.
- Workgroups respond with comments by March 22.
- Final version of checklist is distributed to Partners (and Associates?) by March 24.
- Proposals for demonstration sites should be submitted by April 5.
- Projects and Education Workgroups meet jointly (tentatively, April 6) to select one demonstration site to recommend.
- May Quarterly WMA meeting is a field trip to the recommended site, Partners vote on recommended site.

- Invasive Plant Control Activites in the MCWMA: January, 2006
- Broom removal, Albion Ridge Rd and County Transfer Station, 40 volunteer hours from Albion Ridge Broom Busters
- Invasive Plant Removal, Big River State Park, 40 volunteer hours from Big River Stewards
- Invasive Plant Removal, State Parks, 327 paid hours from State Parks employees
- Invasive plant survey and eradication, throughout MCWMA, ?? paid hours from Mendocino County Department of Agriculture

The availability of agricultural burn permits for disposal of invasive weed debris was confirmed.

Forms for Adopt-A-Highway and Adopt-A-Road permit applications were obtained, as well as additional information on determination of right-of-ways.

Procedure for Selection of MCWMA Demonstration Site was drafted, for presentation to Planning Committee.

Next Projects Workgroup meeting Thursday, April 6 1PM-3PM at College of the Redwoods (tentative).

- Hire a student intern to assist in data entry for invasive plant management information.

- Organizations with liability insurance coverage willing to sponsor volunteer invasive plant removal events.
- Information on any other ways coverage of volunteer invasive plant workers could be addressed.
- Reporting on a monthly basis paid or volunteer invasive plant control activites (using the
In-Kind Reporting Form
).
