  • Survey Roadside Weeds

    Please help us map invasive weeds within the MCWMA by participating in the MCWMA Roadside Weed Survey. Suggested steps:
    • Download and print copies of the Roadside Survey Form for the Spring Season [PDF 56KB] (?) [DOC 83KB] (?)
      This form includes survey instructions.
    • Visit [this page] to find links to photos and other identification information about those species on the survey form with which you are not familiar.
    • Choose a road to survey. Visit [this page] to see what road segments have already been surveyed.
    • Grab a partner and hit the road!
    • Fill out your form according to the instructions, and when you are done mail it to

    • Join an existing Roadside Weed Management program:
    • Attend a State Park weed removal event (see our Calendar for the events schedule for this month), or contact Peter Warner pwarn@parks.ca.gov, Mendocino District.
    • Assist Point Cabrillo Lighthouse Keepers, contact Katy Pye and Robert Becker rbecker@cal.net
    • Start your own Adopt-A-Highway program for vegetation management in Caltrans right-of-ways.
    • Contact your County Transportation Department to start an Adopt-A-Road program for weed management on County roadsides.

        No encroachment permit is required. Pile weeds along roadsides at a wider spot. Call for pickup of debris. Exercise good judgement as to safety of weed workers- if visibility is limited, call for signs.
